I got suspended at MDC
Gee, what did I do that was so reprehensible that they suspended me?
I opined about a thread that was extremely racist in its content.
There is a poster over at MDC, numom499, that doesn't understand why people of color may be offended by the word, "negroid." and "mongoloid," she claims that they are mere words.
I told her, "so are Asshole, and Retard" but those words, *hurt* people.
I accidentally (honest, it was a typ0) called her newmom499 and she got her panties in a bunch.
So...I called her numnuts, whoops, numom499.
The poor little girl ran to the White Witch of Narnia (commonly known as Cynthia Mosher) and *tattled* on *me.*
I noted that a girl who gets all upset at the substitution of mnut for wmom should understand why a person of color may not like the word, "negroid."
She (I can't help but to imagine a nasal whiney voice) asked why "caucosoid" isn't offensive.
I responded that people didn't shout, "causoisoid" (F-the spelling) as people were being lynched or prevented from immigrating to the US.
Numnuts tattled and I got banned.
Oh, yes, I almost forgot, she called me, "Fat" and "Ugly," but I suppose if you are the right species of wing-nut Fundie, you get to call names without consequence.
I am afraid MDC is going down the toilet.
They really didn't get it. I get banned and the one who "honestly" doesn't understand why the word, "negroid" is offensive walks. And she didn't even start to understand the object lesson I was trying to teach her via that thread.
Oy-vey.

That's alarming! I haven't been around MDC much lately as I've been busy with my art. What disturbs me most about that is those are the terms that my parents now use that they've started following this super racist homophobic sexist guy (Pete Peters - scary man). They swear they're not being racist. They swear that white people are the decendants of Adam and no one else is. That they're "negroid" and "mongoloid" and they pepper their speach with terms like, "Edomites" (used derrogatorily) and "Babylonians" to describe Americans/ anyone who doesn't go along with their view. They constantly observe negative aspects of other races and claim that most positive contributions by others are "rewritten history". I've had a lot of really heated arguments with them in recent years since they got into it.
That's what shocks me about that poster - she's using terms popularized right now by the British Israelite / Christian Identity movement (they believe that the true Israelites are not Jews and actually emigrated to England instead of what the rest of genetics/ world history tells us). Those movements are really freaky and those terms leap off the page at me because of who is popularizing them right now.
I'm so sorry you got suspended. I haven't read the threads. You'll probably be banned permenantly for discussing it on your blog.
Does this mean you'll be posting all the cool stuff you write on your blog now?
If you think getting DebraBaker banned is going to keep Debra Baker off MDC, you underestimate my skills :-)

I guess she can't understand why that would offend, hummmmm.
BTW: I like your landscape. I'm starting to paint a little and will be taking it up in the summmer when my classes are cancelled.

Be careful when you return to MDC. They do check IP addresses that new members are coming from. Other people have tried to return under a new name and had their IP banned. But there are ways around that too ;)
I gotta go find that chica's threads. Maybe I'll get banned too if I respond from the sounds of things.

It's all about finesse. I understand the little IP obstruction, it is a mere annoyance, something to be circumvented.

There's a lot of this suspension stuff going around lately. Must be contagious. LOL It's okay, d'b. We all need to find healthier hobbies. Am personally going to pay more attention to my children now. :)

I don't get the censorship at MDC or the standards they use. I am in more hot water for reacting to race baiting than the race baiter?

I've had trouble at GCM as well, different from MDC trouble. GCM is too conservative for me. I tend to take issue with people who advocate wife-only submission. I think they are distorting scripture to justify a cultural practice.
I might try to get back into MDC. I really hate the way people like numbnuts distort Christianity.
I also am not pleased with MDC's 'tude. It's about the largest NFL discussion board. I don't think Peggy O knows that Cynthia M is drunk with power.

MDC's high-handed tactics lately are one of the many reasons I decided to reinstate my discussion forums for women.
At any rate, sorry to see you go. I've begun posting less and less over there, because it's all either tripe, fluff, or righteous indignation. Unless you are posting an acceptable topic or are in certain circles, there's not much for you (general you) there.
Why can't we just have a conversation for crying out loud?
I have been posting there since 2002 and have found that Cynthia's heavy hand (and, by extension, that of the mods) has turned the board into a freakish place, where it's fine to support a mother with Gestational Diabetes and hypertension to have a UC with an untrained husband, but it's unacceptable to question those choices.
Oy.
I predict a passive lawsuit, soon, that will shut down MDC.
